We lucked out and got bumped up to a nice room with a comfy queen bed next to the terrace. the room had all the basics covered - a big TV, central heating, and a cozy sitting area 🌟.

We were pleased with the friendliness of the proprietors, who really worked hard to make us feel at home. Also, as we arrived in the off season, we were the only people staying at the building, so we had run of the house, which is quite lovely.
Be aware that they add an additional 5% charge if you choose to pay by credit card. They also prefer that guests pay in hard currency, but unfortunately do not provide any incentives (i.e., discounts) to do so. Also, while food served at Riad Dar Guennoun is good, you can find comparable (or better) meals elsewhere in the city for a significant fraction of the cost.

I got great value for my money at Riad Dar Guennoun. The room was beautifully decorated and the attention to detail was impressive. The location was perfect, just slightly off the center of the medina, making it easy to find and close to a taxi station. The staff treated me like family and were always helpful and generous with their suggestions.
Breakfast option could have been more varied.

Myself and my partner had such a great time staying at the Riad Dar Guennoun. As soon as we make the booking through bookings.com we had a phone call immediatley from Miriam (who runs the Riad) to tell us how to get there which really gave us a positive feeling that we chose the right Riad. Once we arrived they had moroccan tea and moroccan sweets ready for us. We stayed in the Junior Suite Sofia which was gorgeous but we looked at all the room as they only have 6 and they were all great. The main points I would say is that you get real personal service, all the staff will do anything they can to make your stay memorable, the food is great, we had dinner in the small restaurant and breakfast on the roof terrace as the weather was nice. So if you are looking for a Traditional Riad with modern touches I would highly reccommend this to anyone.

Very centrally located close to the older Bab Rcif and the newer blue gate that looks somewhat like Bab Boujloud (but it's not). Best way to get to the medina is to get out of the little alley the Riad is located, turn left and then directly right until you reach a little square. Turn left at the square and go down the stairs then follow the main road until you see the newer blue gate.
Take a tour the first day it is very helpful, Fes is a big maze even of you went to other old Arab cities (E.G. Damascus) and you will see funny things (they will try to sell you carpets etc). But then make it clear that you are going on your own for the next days it is possible (noone "jumps" on you)! Also the guide will try to get you seriously lost in Fes by walking through the smallest alleys so don't worry it isn't that hard to get a feel once you are alone. Never take recommendations for restaurants at the hostel - they will only show you expensive tourist traps. Best way to eat in all moroccan cities seems to be outside the medina in the new city (Avenue Hassan ii close to the rail station) so take a cab!

Miriam is an excellent lady of the house. She made sure that we were happy and comfortable in our room. Very helpful showing us the way to the medina. Breakfast was excellent. Definitely is the place to stay in Fes!
From Omar room we were woken up by the Imam very early every morning. But this is not something to blame the Riad for!
